WWE & Elimination Chamber Thoughts: 21st February 2010

February 21st 2010 11:12
The wrestling week has almost come to an end here in Australia, Smackdown, ECW, Superstars, and Raw have come and passed ECW's finally dead and will be known as NXT or as I want to call it Tough Enough Reloaded. Since it is pretty much Tough Enough, only this time they are wrestlers from the WWE Development System getting "mentored" MVP has already been dumped from the mentors, and replaced by William Regal, no word on why as yet, NXT is doomed to fail, Tough Enough failed, as far as the ratings went, more importantly Daniel Puder was never paid in full with the prize money either, nor did he see out his WWE tenure there. It's a minor thing but it's not very good to have a series and have a winner and then downgrade the winning prize upon signing the deal.

The final ECW was a fairly standard show, it would have been good to have have some ECW moments, not WWECW moments REAL ECW moments, there are so many that could have made the show more interesting in the end. ECW was never going to be a ratings winner, Velocity/Metal/Jakked was never a ratings winner. and neither was Sunday Night HeAT even Shotgun Saturday Night barely rated a mention. I remember watching WWE Superstars in 1999 on C7 Sport and wondering what was the point? At that time it was more a highlights show with sometimes a match.

Another problem ECW faced was the SyFy Channel, not many wrestling fans really care for SyFy and sci-fi fans have no desire to care about wrestling either. IT was doomed from the start to be perfectly honest, and WWE continued to see it down hill. In it's time there was a vampire (Kevin Thorn) and a Zombie (Tim Arson)
The Zombie was introduced to Sandmans canes there was not much else said about that. Zeke won the ECW Title from Christian and now from the looks of things headed to Smackdown, well unless there was a draft to take place soon.

Bret Hart said farewell to the WWE “Universe” and when he was entering the limo his leg was “broken” by a bad acting blonde in a parked car, minus the blonde and Gail Kim I thought the segment would have been good. It must be said Gail Kim has looked less and less like she cares about her in ring ability either that or she was wiped clean of all her talent, and she is working sloppy due to memory loss. I like Gail as a worker, and thought before she left TNA she was working good matches, now, I am not so sure, WWE are stating to make Sheamus look a bit more threatening, I also get the feeling that Ortons close to a face turn, maybe even a title win at the PPV, though Batista and Cena I think there's something there that will see Cena miss the Elimination Chamber, It's really stating to add up that Batista will stay on Raw.

Mark Henry and MVP I am still not feeling, maybe because I dislike Henry, MVP seems to be floundering by the looks of it there are still some backstage issues he was dumped as a mentor to Skip Sheffield and replaced by William Regal though it could have been that both are English. Who knows? The point is Mark Henry, sucks. MVP seemed like he was going to leapfrog like Ken Anderson was going to before issues arised and Ken is gone and MVP is just going nowhere at times. MizShow or ShowMiz is growing on me, who knew adding Big Show with The Miz made me less likely to turn off when I saw him?

Orton laid out Cody on Raw, and then Sheamus bid farewell to Tripls, and then he ate an RKO and we went off the air. I am trying to forget Raw, the Springer segment was kinda amusing, the bad acting was tolerable until the WWE went way to far. And was Kelly Kelly looking like she was very uncomfortable? In a way she looked like she was embarassed by the whole thing. Mae Young was the final nail in that coffin. So now we head to Smackdown and again Morrison had an ankle angle problem, or was that an angle ankle problem? One of the two, JC Punk (Jesus Christ Punk, it's maketable with the beard, right? Oh fine CM Punk) and his lackeys decided to take Morrison's ankle apart, Batista got himself counted out.

Kane beat Dolph Ziggler (who the blue hell is that? Oh...) it was an interesting match, until Dolph took a ride back to hell, or wherever good depushed guys go. Caylon Croft and Trent Barretta started their new lives on WWE Smackdown as jobbers to Cryme Tyme (Do you remember a time when Cryme Tyme were cool, and not...well...annoying? And not so cool? I do it was back when Lita was leaving, but let's continue.) R-Truth came to the aid of Morrison as the Straight Edge Society tried to take apart his ankle. The Hart Dynasty got a win over Hardy and Khali...hey that kinda rhymes! In all seriousness Smackdown was not too bad neither was Raw if you forget the Springer segment, and the bad acting of the blonde and Gail Kim. I didn't watch Superstars, I don't imagine there was much there that anyone cared about.

I am looking forwad to the Elimination Chamber though the whole gimmick PPVs ideas that the WWE is coming up with has already got me concerned. I remember a time when everyone and their dog was ready to kick TNA about their gimmick PPV in Lockdown, now WWE wants to do it all year round. I like the Wild Card one, but the rest I am not a fan of. Money In The Bank should be at Wrestlemania. There has been so many classic matches of this type at Wrestlemania and to have it go for a gimmicked up PPV I don't see the need to have a year long gimmick for PPVs.

4 PPVs a year Wild Card, Elimination Chamber, TLC, Hell In A Cell is enough in fact seeing them all the time every year may see the interest start to go by the way side it already seems that Money in the Bank will not be at Wrestlemania due to the new PPV later in the year. Time for the Elimination Chamber PPV.

WWE Championship
RAW Elimination Chamber

Sheamus (c) vs John Cena vs Randy Orton vs Ted DiBiase vs Kofi Kingston vs Triple H

World Heavyweight Championship
SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match

The Undertaker (c) vs John Morrison vs CM Punk vs Chris Jericho vs Rey Mysterio vs R-Truth

WWE Intercontinental Title
Drew McIntyre (c) vs Kane

Diva's Championship
Singles Match

Maryse (c) vs Gail Kim

The current card looks like this with the rumors that Batista will take on someone possibly Shawn Michaels at the PPV, but there has been no confirmation yet so right now the PPV card is looking a bit weak. Someone in either both or one of them will be eliminated before the match even starts. R-Truth and Kofi Kingston has become my picks here I just do not think that either will be in the event, still there is a chacne that Morrison from the injury angles he was doing may miss as well. Bringing in Shawn Michaels and/or Batista in either Chamber.

I do not see Sheamus leaving the event as the WWE Champion, and I have a feeling that either Randy Orton, or Triple H. Part of me hopes it's Orton as I could see an Orton main event there at Wrestlemania, if WWE does go as planned maybe Jericho will capture the World Heavyweight Title and Edge will cash in on him at Wrestlemania battling him for the WWE World Title since the WWE has been keeping Jericho on Smackdown for the fued at Wrestlemania. Shawn Michaels I feel will cost the Undertaker in someway, either by eliminating him, or by just making sure he does not participate in the event that well.

Batista and Cena may feud somehow as well I think maybe Batista will eliminate Cena as well, just to keep that theme going heading into Wrestlemania. I would expect to see Drew win over Kane as WWE are pushing Drew to the main event and I do not see them wasting this by having Kane, no offense to Kane take away the win from him.

Maryse I am expecting to retain the belt, it will be interesting to see what matches if any the WWE does add to this card.

You have shared a lot of information about the WWE universe and I think most of the predictions are going to be correct and I am expecting that undertaker will lose the title and Shawn will go over him for his Wrestlemania rematch. Let's see in the near future what exactly happens in the chamber.

I have a hunch we will see the rematch there, it will be interesting to see if HBK becomes the first to break the streak, or if they will keep the streak going until he retires. It will be a shame to watch Wrestlemania without Money In The Bank I feel that has been a good addition to that PPV since it's inception.

As the event has happened and stuff I won't reveal what happened, but I'd hope for some shocks there.
