The TNA Commentary: Saturday 20th Feburary
February 19th 2010 13:26
Now TNA imPACT for this week has not yet aired here in Australia, but I am going to post a few things on what I think is going on with the company. A report seems to suggest that TNA are going to scale back the Knockouts on TV and not have the Beautiful People wrestle much anymore, so TNA are going to try and be different to the WWE by doing the same as them with their women's division? You have a part of the show that the fans are enjoying so you are going to remove it? I know that Lacey cannot wrestle a match, it's more and more evident by the week keeping her out of the ring is a better idea.
Why not keep the two members of the stable that can going? Roxxi will be back in the company within the month, and when she comes back, then what? You have Daffney, Sarita, Taylor Wilde, Tara, Velvet Skye, Madison Rayne, Hamada, Awesome Kong, Angelina Love, and Daffeny that can work matches why not build towards a partnership with Shimmer Women's Athletic and take the Knockouts more seriously? TNA has more women there that can work then can't since Christy will no longer be wrestling that is one down, Traci comes and goes, and Alissa Flash is gone which I am not that happy about.
Ashley Massaro has been telling people she is headed to TNA, I am not convinced that is a good thing for the company, TNA needs a well known name in their division someone like Trish Stratus, Amy Dumas, Nora Greenwald, even though this names are never going to ever be there in TNA it's nice to dream, right? I will comment on the WWE Divas in my Sunday blog, before the WWE PPV but this is about TNA right now.
It seems that TNA have plans for Kiyoshi after all, I am not going to say what in this blog as most wouldn't want a spoiler but it seems that TNA has actually remembered he exists. Now will TNA remember that Homicide does as well? Maybe I need to keep mentioning him and someone will make a noise for him.
TNA has recently replaced Scott D'Amore who has again departed TNA again wishing them the best in their future endeavors. He was replaced by former Blue Blood Dave Taylor, his most recent stint was early 2000s again tagging with his former tag team partner William Regal in the WWE. From all reports his first week in TNA has been a very positive one and he has managed to win over a few people. It will be interesting to see how TNA use him as an agent with the company.
Hernandez is off to AAA as well, Terry Taylor thinks this is the way to help him get over, make him a big name down in Mexico and it will transfer to his American following as well. It has the possibility of working I guess we wait and see what happens. Kurt Angle has been working injured and will be written out of storylines, and be given a lighter schedule and will be home rehabbing a calf, and other injuries. Angle may feel he still has a bit to give to the company, hopefully he does not hurt himself in the mean time.
It sounds as if Jeff Hardy will be back in action around the 15th of March he seems to be getting contacts and says he will not be working until his latest round of legal troubles subside. There was a minor hint there in the Destination X preview that was seen after the Against All Odds PPV Hardy is in there giving Homicide the twist of fate. Destination X being March 21 it does make sense to have a surprise return by Hardy.
Sadly Bubba "The Love" Sponge is still with TNA he was backstage at the latest ImPACT tapings, I had high hopes with Borash back that this was the end of him, but I guess not. Jimmy Hart could hit him with a megaphone a few dozen times, oh wait another Hogan friend not going to happen, shame,. TNA rejected Nunzio and Chuck Polumbo who were looking for TNA jobs, the former FBI may have made a decent addition to TNA I would have liked to have seen Tony Mamaluke, and co in TNA, but would this mean we would have to see Vito again?
This is an ImPACT spoiler that was cut from the show, either TNA did it or Spike did but Orlando Jordan on ImPACT had a male and female companion the male one was later kissed by Orlando Jordan, and then he kissed the girl, as most would know Orlando Jordan is indeed bi-sexual and TNA was going to try and do this angle the guy he kissed was supposedly his real life boyfriend too. I am glad someone saw common sense and saw this angle/possible angle was removed from the broadcast it couldn't do any good. Why do I suddenly feel a tag team called Gaylords showing up? Russo pushed this in the WWE in the 1990s the idea was meant for Brian Christopher the son of Jerry Lawler, and Lawler strongly objected.
WWE later ran this with Billy and Chuck, though WCW tried it with Lenny and Lodi, well they were hinted as a gay tag team, but there was never any real show of this. WCW's writers must have realised the influx of channel changes.Billy and Chuck was a bad idea, but that is added to the Russo files, which which are coming soon in an all new blog.
AJ Styles is also starting to get better on the microphone and he has not been with Flair long seems kinda funny that Randy Orton and Batista were there with Flair in WWE with Triple H alongside and there was only a slim improvement to Batista, but seems to have been a moving back but moving on there. Ken Anderson and The Pope could be an interesting feud no? They could feud could come to ahead at Destination X which appears to be moving away from the billed X Division only theme, it will still be highly X Division orientated but TNA are going to add more to it, since they think there is a lack of X Division stars that are over, can't they start to push some? Ultimate X will return at the PPV, it would make for a good return to see Shannon Moore and Jeff Hardy enter it and see who would win from that.
I cannot help but wonder why TNA allowed Petey Williams, Sonjay Dutt, and Jimmy Rave go,. some good workers on the Indy scene and they worked well in TNA, hell Jimmy Rave kept me almost interested in Lance Hoyt, who was later released with Rave and WWE snapped him up, I assume WWE thinks they have themselves a bargain with NXT in play I cannot see him lasting personally. I miss watching Matt Bentley as well, I was a big fan of him a well.
I would really like to see Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli, Jigsaw, and Jimmy Jacobs in TNA. The Kings of Wrestling there, The Young Bucks, Jimmy Jacobs and Rave can be The Embassy and they can also battle the MCMG in a series of matches. Being a fan of these guys while they work down in the indies I guess I have wanted to see someone take the ball and run with it with them in a company.
I have trailed off a bit here and went into who I would like to see working with TNA, storyline wise I am not sure what TNA could do there. I get the feeling at Lockdown that there is another chapter to the Abyss/Mick Foley vs Eric Bischoff angle, again without revealing spoilers as I have only read a bit of them and stuff I am not going to go into detail until I watch imPACT but post Destination X road to Lockdown there could be a match which sees Abyss/??? vs Mick Foly/??? inside the steel cage, wait does this mean there is no 6 sides of steel?
I am glad that TNA removed the 6 Sided Ring, I got tired of hearing about the ring it seemed more like a bad gimmick that would never go away then something unique, now rolling the ring out for Lockdown PPVs seems to be a much better way to go about this, since that PPV is the Six Sides of Steel hype up event.
I'd like to see TNA Roll out the War Games match but call it someone else, not as bad as some ideas that have come out before but a two ring, 3 team match could be an interesting concept for TNA. I still liked the Triple Cage Match, or as they called it Ready to Rumble Cage....sure there were some poor taste options but I liked the concept, just having David Arquette (another for the Russo file.) win the title was lame, even Arquette said he didn't want the belt, well surely that told you he was not a good choice?
This was just my random TNA commentary, with a few tidbits and my ideas for new TNA stars.
