WWE Saturday Night's Main Event thoughts

Wasn't too impressed with this show. I thought the last one (with the Biggest, Strongest, Smallest, Strangest theme) was much more fun to watch. There were some ok moments on this one too though.
The opener was nothing we haven't seen on Smackdown! hundreds of time already. It was predictable going in that Finlay would be the one getting pinned. Some good spots though, like the double chokeslam on Khali, and Kane/Batista using Hornswoggle as a weapon.
The Vince skits were just lame all night. Very unfunny stuff, I thought, especially the bit where Vince looked into the mirror and saw a younger version of himself (not a fan of stuff like that). Austin was a nice surprise, but the whole thing still wasn't really that entertaining.
Cena/Carlito was pretty much a squash. It seemed like they were gearing Carlito up for a top level push, but that doesn't seem like the case anymore. Orton's post-match RKO to Cena on the chair looked pretty cool though.
All the pre-match stuff for the Holyfield/Hardy bout was fantastic. From Michael Buffer (who I never expected to see on WWE TV!) to MVP coming out with a huge entourage (he should do that each week!). But the execution was quite disappointing, and in my mind, just made Matt Hardy look like a prop rather than give him the rub it could have. Rather than have Matt be decimated for one round before Evander turned on MVP, they should've let it go, say, 3 rounds (with Holyfield dominating, of course, but some false comebacks and signs of life from Hardy). They could've showed Holyfield getting more and more mad at MVP, and eventually snap after the third round, punching him out. That way, Hardy would've got a better rub (surviving three rounds, despite being on the losing end for most of the time, against Evander Holyfield) and the pop when they shook hands afterwards would've been much louder. So yeah, the segment got MVP over as a heel, and created another WWE-Celebrity moment, but didn't really do anything for Matt like it should have. Still a good segment though.
The ECW match at the end just seemed really random and a bit out of place (maybe because there was no mention of it throughout the show at all). It was as if someone said 'Damn! We have a third brand, don't we?' and quickly brought out Tazz to call it. The match was very poor too, and didn't really advance the Punk/Morrison or Boogeyman/Big Daddy V feuds. CM Punk getting the fluke small-package win was very anticlimatic considering he beat Morrison cleanly two weeks ago.

IF YOU MISSED IT: Check out the Holyfield/Hardy segment, just cause it's something different (and like I said before, all the pre-game stuff was very well done). Nothing else is really worth watching.
