WWE Smackdown! (August 3, 2007) thoughts

Another just-average edition of SD! this week. ECW was easily the best of all three shows. There were some decent moments though, so let's go through it...
I really can't wait for the Long/Kristal wedding! (Which by the way, is on September 21. When was the last time they announced a date for this sort of thing so far in advance?!). Say what you want about them, but WWE's wedding segments are always entertaining (for me, anyway) and with Faarooq on board as best-man, this one should be no different. Damn!
Kane V Masters was better than I would've expected. Nothing great, obviously, but a decent-enough big-man match. I wonder what they have planned for Kane now that he's seemingly been taken out of the Khali/Batista storyline.
Mark Henry's squash matches are ok I guess, but nowhere near as awesome as Big Daddy V's! I do enjoy Henry's promos though; very effective stuff. But they really need to put him in a feud with someone-- he's been having these squashes long enough. We get it; he's dominant. Now put him in a decent storyline.
Foxtel edited out the Chuck Palumbo and Michelle McCool vignettes but kept in the Jesse and Festus one. Why?!? I reckon the Jesse Festus schtick is just completely lame. We already have hillbilly characters and we already have 'challenged' characters, no need for any more! I can't see them lasting long; they'll be in-and-out as quick as the Heartthrobs, The Dicks and The Gymini, I reckon.
I really liked the MVP/Matt Hardy arm-wrestling segment. MVP's stalling was hilarious and got him tonnes of heat with the crowd. And their match was decent too; a nice teaser for their upcoming PPV bout.
Shannon Moore and Funaki making fun of Jamie Noble for losing a match just reeked of irony!!
It was good (and very surprising) to see a Noble/Moore match on SD! though. And Hornswoggle continues to be gold!
The main-event was quite poor. Just a generic formula tag match, predictable right down to Khali's run-in. I must admit though, I did laugh at that segment from earlier in the show where Flair was revealed to be in Batista's dressing room with Cherry.

IF YOU MISSED IT: The MVP/Hardy arm-wrestling segment and match are worth checking out if you're interested. Otherwise, no real need to bother with this one.

I love MVP! he is a good athlete, entertaining persona and mic skills.
Jesse and Festus??? weird and strange. ENOUGH with these mentally challenged wrestlers!!! God why are WWE isnaulting our intelligence.
Mark Henry is alright, but seeing him in squash matches every week is soon going to loose my intrest.
I feel asleep during Kanes and Masters match, and then to sleep during the tag match and woke up to see Khali on my tv screen.
