WWE Smackdown! (August 17, 2007) thoughts

I enjoyed Smackdown!. It was easily better than Raw and ECW this week.
Yet another wrestler interview show! I admit though, the name The VIP Lounge is pretty clever, and the set was kinda cool. I thought the segment was very well done; it was probably the highlight of the show. Matt Hardy is huge right now, and the MVP/Hardy feud is really hot. The segment made people want to see Hardy/MVP for the title, hyped Evander Holyfield's appearance (Which blows TNA's recent 'Pacman' stunt right out of the water!), and gave Masters a rub by involving him. So overall, it was a success.
The Deuce & Domino V Major Brothers match was also very good. Probably the Majors' best match to date. I look forward to seeing them go for longer in the future. With that been said though, I still wish London and Kendrick were on SD! (where they played a big part, as opposed to now when they're on Heat most of the time).
Finlay/Noble and Chavo/Moore were both decent while they lasted. Chavo is such an awesome heel right now-- him talking to Rey's mask afterwards was great. Like I said last week, I really hope this push he's getting right now lasts long after the feud with Rey.
The Batista promo started out boring, but by the end, managed to hype up the PPV match with Khali quite well. I'm sure the match will exceed most people's expectations. Khali isn't as bad as people say he is, and Batista has proven that he's more than just a big-guy-stiff a la Heidenreich, Tomko, etc.
I thought Kane V Khali was a decent-enough big-man match that did its job in further establishing Khali's claw as a devastating finisher. They've done a great job in getting that move over during the past few weeks. It's a much better finisher for him to have than that chop to the head.

IF YOU MISSED IT: If you're home and not doing anything when the replay's on, check it out, as this was a pretty decent show. Nothing absolutely outstanding, but still a good episode that- like I said earlier- was the best of the three shows this week.
