The impression within WWE among most is that Daniel Bryan didn’t know about the “Chris Benoit protocol” where talents aren’t supposed to choke each other with objects. Word is that the protocol was something that was talked about in meetings and some of the talents who have been around for a few years knew about but it wasn’t something that was talked about regularly. There is said to be a lot of sympathy right now for Bryan.
Several people have pointed out that WWE has done choking storylines since the Benoit murders, most notably at the 2008 Royal Rumble when Chris Jericho strangled JBL with ringside cables.

- The Miz is the new WWE United States Champion after defeating R-Truth, John Morrison and Zack Ryder in a four way match for Truth's title on tonight's RAW.
- The only mention of Daniel Bryan on tonight's RAW came when Wade Barrett cut a promo at the start of the show. Barrett said that Bryan had remorse for their attack last week and that is why we won't be seeing him again.
