Bubba The Love Sponge vs Honky Tonk Man
February 6th 2010 14:59
Bubba The Love Sponge has gotten himself another opponent, this time he is facing a war with The Honky Tonk Man who has started a "Hire Honky Tonk Man Fire Bibba The Love Sponge" group on facebook you can view it by Clicking Here there is also more info on his website at this link here Click Here I am not sure what to think of this, part of me in reading this the other day laughed, because imagine my surprise to see Bubba and Honky having a battle, but also what would Honky really bring to TNA? Would he be a road agent? Well you know what? I am not the world's biggest Bubba The Love Sponge fan, so I would be all for a signing of Honky just so Bubba was given his marching orders, who would want to see Bubba in TNA anymore anyway?
Though I have the fear that Honky will be wrestling could you imagine Honky Tonk Man winning a title in TNA at his age? That would really defeat what TNA are really trying to do and that is push themselves forward, and why would they waste signing HTM? These are the days I wonder why can't some of these veterans retire and be done with it all? Your time is the sun has come and gone, look at the great young talent TNA as, and you want to come to TNA? I am sorry Honky, you were a legend in the past, but you are nothing now.
Let these guys who are trying to break on through to break out and make TNA the best it can be, we have guys like The Nasty Boys, Kevin Nash, still holding on, at least when Terry Funk got old he knew where the future was he started to put wrestlers over, he started to work on the future aspects of this business, mentoring seems to be the thing that TNA needs the most, maybe even a future wrestling school, WCW had the powerplant and had some good names come through there and have made a name for themselves in the business.
ECW had the house of Hardcore which saw Chetti and Doring come on through the ranks, WWE had the Funkin' Dojo with Dory Funk jr, now it has FCW which is the place where young talent already trained goes and try to get themselves noticed to be called up to the main roster. If we see older guys working matches again we are going to see some of these young workers start to get angry and want to leave WCW faced this a lot and lost some very talented workers because of it.
I hope that if Honky is signed, that he is there as a mentor, do not make him wrestler there is surely nothing left he can do as a wrestler that these young guys cannot do for the future. but now if Honky is signed would this be the serious end of Bubba?
The Bubba express has been seemingly finding reasons to want to walk out on the company, after January 4th's imPACT! Bubba apparently had some of his fans that were given tickets turned away from the show and supposedly he had people mocking him and stuff and he was angry and wanted his release, well he's still there so he must have gotten over that.but what then before the last PPV, he made a comment that was not going to be seen by many as the smartest he will ever make sure he said sorry but the fact is he made the comments.
Being that he is a friend of Hogan makes me wonder how he deserves to keep his spot here in TNA, Borash is a better backstage interviewer, so is Christy Hemme, and TNA could always try and sign Gene Okerlund who I would love to see working backstage again giving the wrestlers hell and stuff. I suppose eventually we are going to see Bubba finally more annoyed then ever that he is either going to get himself sacked, or he will walk out, but will it be if HTM is signed? I really doubt it.
I do not see TNA signing Honky Tonk Man, because really there is no need for him as a wrestler, unless TNA are looking at him as a road agent, and a very experienced mentor because this is what young wrestlers need a person who has lived the wrestling dream for decades seen the highs and lows of the business and they have the wealth of knowledge on how to work the fans, how to cut a promo and how to recover from touring and working hard tour dates, and recovering from injuries as well. Advice is a key in wrestling you need someone that is going to add a bit of a word in the younger workers ears letting them know that if they stuff up a move,to not dwell on it and to move on and finish the match without anymore screw ups.
I would feel privileged if a Sting, Hogan, Flair was to sit down and to have a word in my ear about how to better myself as a wrestler and hw to make the matches look better how to live the wrestling life without finding themselves going down the dark road alone getting hooked to pain killers and such.
I do look forward to seeing what does indeed happen.
