Jeff Hardy's TNA Status

February 28th 2010 16:23
At the moment it seem that Jeff Hardy has not yet signed with TNA, event though this past week he was on Impact during the segment with Abyss at the start of the show. Jeff has also been added to the Impact intro which seems to suggest that once his legal troubles are over he is indeed headed to TNA. Talk is that Hardy was not going to sign with anyone un til his issues were behind him, friend Shannon Moore appears signed, if you follow the message that Dixie Carter left on her twitter "one moore signed" was the message.

Jeff's court case is coming up, and it could see him, unless he has already signed and no one has been alerted to it, after March 15th, which means he could make an appearance at the next TNA PPV Destination X.

TNA has yet to add Moore to their roster, nor have they even indicated he is with the company other than the message on the Twitter page of Dixie Carter, according to another twitter message from Hardy and Moore are expected to be a TNA Tag Team. With Beer Money facing Morgan and Hernandez at the PPV it could be a good way to debut a new tag team by having them get into the middle of that match.

NXT Thoughts February 23, 2010

February 27th 2010 08:39
An interesting debut for the newest addition to the "WWE Universe" programming, a good main event there for the show made me look forward to when Daniel Bryan gets promoted from the NXT Roster to the WWE roster. Hopefully by then we see the Daniel Bryan name dropped and he can return to Bryan Danielson, or at least someone comes up with a creative name,

I was amused by CM Punk and his annoyance at being the mentor of a party boy Darren Young, maybe on a future Smackdown Young can become a member of the straight edge society, mentoring at it's finest turn a party boy into a mindless zombie in a cult, David “A-List” Otunga didn't look too bad, Otunga has a fair bit of charisma, looked good in the ring, I look forward to seeing more of him in the future of NXT.

Michael Tarver appears to at this moment lack charisma, and just has nothing there at the moment, he will probably take the longest out of the ones mentioned to get a call up unless he is in a stable with someone, Heath Slater has a lot of charisma, needs some more in ring skils here and there but I like the look of him, and he tagged well with his mentor Christian, and I think Tarver may learn a lot from this experience, though I don't think you can teach charisma.

Daniel Bryan and Chris Jericho was the match of the show, high quality match and showed that Daniel Bryan is pretty close to being a WWE midcarder and not stuck on this show. Sadly and I know Cole was mentioned to get on the nerves of the fans by his attacks on the Internet Wrestling Community, but they just blew what was a great match with shit announcing. I am not a fan of Michael Cole on a good day and when you have a match like this that showed off great skill and you have a guy preaching about his hate for the wrestling fans on-line who bag him.

By mid match I had just started to ignore the rantings of Cole, Bryan came close to a wipe out on the announce table his back welted up after the match and he was lucky not to leave the match without any further injuries.

My final thoughts on the show was it was good, but it was just like ECW minus Washington and a few "out of character" promos for the wrestlers, a 1.85 rating has many anti-TNA fans really to kick TNA in the guts over this, and I just think to myself....who cares? The rating was going to be good this week, due to it being a debut show, the bigger test for the WWE is to keep the rating up, over time it can and will drop.

TNA has still a lot of fans to make WWE is still a well known product, regardless of the new shows they put on, once you debut a new show, the fans will watch, unlike WCW, TNA was created with no fans, and no TV deal, much like most wrestling promotions, it is hard to start up a company and have the product pulling in massive amounts of fans.

WCW was established in the Georgia Area before the purchase of the company by the McMahons and then sold back and eventually Ted bought it and it became WCW but the point is, it had a following, a small one, but it was a following nonetheless and from there it got bigger by going international, TNA has started trying to get their own fans thus, they have taken an extra period.

NXT has a ways to go to be considered a success a good debut show is nothing if they have bad ratings for the rest of the series.

One more WWE Release

February 27th 2010 03:38
As noted earlier, WWE announced the releases today of Maria, Hurricane Helms and Paul Burchill.

You can add referee Scott Armstrong, son of legend Bob Armstrong, to that list as his release is also confirmed. A number of people in WWE are bummed about Armstrong being let go from the company because he was well liked by the wrestlers.

More WWE releases are expected.

Warrior snubs Hall of Fame nomination

February 24th 2010 16:36
Seemingly the single best thing that The Ultimate Warrior will ever do, the snub by Warrior will now see Stu Hart inducted into the 2010 Hall of Fame class and I would now assume we have seen the last of the Ultimate Warriors name being mentioned around the WWE halls. The single craziest person that has ever entered the wrestling business, and there has been a few nutjobs that have carved a career as a wrestler, but Warrior manages to make them look like a very sane competitor. Since his days of being a wrestler Warrior has managed to make an art form of sitting behind a computer screen and writing about things, people, and events even mocking the deaths of people. When I read his bloig about the passing of Heath Ledger I just shook my head in disbelief I mean I know Warrior has made a life of being a twit, but this was a moment I wish I would have never seen.

But it was not just Ledger that would get the Warrior treatment in that blog, his dis-stain for Hulk Hogan was ever present. Now I have not read a Warrior blog since then, I hope never to, but I have read past blogs he has made and shook my head at them but that is his right to be a a screwball. And now we are never going to see this nut in the WWE Hall of Fame, I hope that the WWE will pass over Warriors name and see him for the wasted career he was

Women's Wrestling

February 23rd 2010 19:05
World Wrestling Entertainment has never been overly high on their Women's division. In fact, the only real notoriety it recieved was in 1995, and that's only because Alundra Blayze (Madusa) took it to then-rival, World Championship Wrestling and promptly dropped the title, to a trash can.

Upon it's reactivation in 1998, Sable and Jacqueline effectively carried the title, with the division including the not-so-talented Debra McMichael-Williams-Whatever, Ivory, who was severely underrated and Tori. But even then, the title was seen as nothing more as a joke, which was highlighted on January 31, 2000 when Harvey Whippleman (under the guise of Hervina) won the title

Random WWE Elimination Chamber Thoughts

February 23rd 2010 15:44
The chamber was not overly bad as a PPV, you take aside the predictability of some of the matches, which I guess after being a fan of the wrestling for so long and not getting swept up in the storyline aspect you are going to find predictable outcomes everywhere in the WWE and even wrestling in general. In a few years TNA, should they survive will be predictable too, right now their booking has a few plot holes here and there. Smackdown's Elimination Chamber was the best of the night, Kofi Kingston kept looking back a bit of a teaser from last time when he was attacked. and unable to compete, maybe a little dig at people's predictions as well of him being attacked.

I admit I expected that he was going to be sent out of the chamber again, by Batista, Cena won the title and then lost it to Batista, thanks to Vince who decided that Cena should face the wrath of Batista. Now seems to be a clash at Wrestlemania for the title, unless the WWE does an angle that sees Cena taking some time off which he was meant to

The wrestling week has almost come to an end here in Australia, Smackdown, ECW, Superstars, and Raw have come and passed ECW's finally dead and will be known as NXT or as I want to call it Tough Enough Reloaded. Since it is pretty much Tough Enough, only this time they are wrestlers from the WWE Development System getting "mentored" MVP has already been dumped from the mentors, and replaced by William Regal, no word on why as yet, NXT is doomed to fail, Tough Enough failed, as far as the ratings went, more importantly Daniel Puder was never paid in full with the prize money either, nor did he see out his WWE tenure there. It's a minor thing but it's not very good to have a series and have a winner and then downgrade the winning prize upon signing the deal.

The final ECW was a fairly standard show, it would have been good to have have some ECW moments, not WWECW moments REAL ECW moments, there are so many that could have made the show more interesting in the end. ECW was never going to be a ratings winner, Velocity/Metal/Jakked was never a ratings winner. and neither was Sunday Night HeAT even Shotgun Saturday Night barely rated a mention. I remember watching WWE Superstars in 1999 on C7 Sport and wondering what was the point? At that time it was more a highlights show with sometimes a match

Now TNA imPACT for this week has not yet aired here in Australia, but I am going to post a few things on what I think is going on with the company. A report seems to suggest that TNA are going to scale back the Knockouts on TV and not have the Beautiful People wrestle much anymore, so TNA are going to try and be different to the WWE by doing the same as them with their women's division? You have a part of the show that the fans are enjoying so you are going to remove it? I know that Lacey cannot wrestle a match, it's more and more evident by the week keeping her out of the ring is a better idea.

Why not keep the two members of the stable that can going? Roxxi will be back in the company within the month, and when she comes back, then what? You have Daffney, Sarita, Taylor Wilde, Tara, Velvet Skye, Madison Rayne, Hamada, Awesome Kong, Angelina Love, and Daffeny that can work matches why not build towards a partnership with Shimmer Women's Athletic and take the Knockouts more seriously? TNA has more women there that can work then can't since Christy will no longer be wrestling that is one down, Traci comes and goes, and Alissa Flash is gone which I am not that happy about

Rob Van Dam close to joining TNA

February 17th 2010 15:04
Rob Van Dam's name has been raised again as a possible new signing to TNA, Hogan has been chasing Van Dam since he was given the new role in TNA that he was given, he went as far as to offer Rob Van Dam a contract live on the radio show that Rob Van Dam does, RVD sounded very keen and now it seems with the new Monday Night Wars being officially launched by TNA Rob Van Dam himself says he's getting pretty close, below is the transcript of a recent interview he has done with Right After Wrestling Radio Show, it's been taken from Wrestlezone.com.

Post Against All Odds Thoughts

February 16th 2010 16:58
I have to say I am surprised with the way the PPV went, in parts I never expected that D'Angelo Dinero would become the winner of the 6 Card Stud Tournament, I had expected Ken Anderson watching the PPV with my dad at the time we were both discussing that Ken Anderson was part of the future of the company along with Dinero, Wolfe, and a few others but I am pleased to say I have enjoyed the event, though I did not enjoy the Foley/Abyss match, but there are reasons for that clearly it was meant to be set up as an angle and they were telling a story. Hernandez and Morgan was not a complete bore, The Nasty Boys and Team 3D was as expected, with a minor surprise for the PPV, surprise in genral? Not really I had expected to see Jimmy Hart back in wrestling in fact he pretty much confirmed it before the event but there was not debut date.

Sadly this means we are going to see more of The Nasty Boys, look I will be honest here it's not that they are 45 now and are friends of Hogan, no it's never been just that and it's never been that I have never liked them at all. The fact remains that they just do not have anything really to offer, it's like signing Honky Tonk Man and pushing him as a wrestler, it's on par with signing Ed Leslie and thinking he's going to win you ratings, I hate to say this but they would never win TNA ratings, not now, not 20 years ago not even if they were in a match of the year, it's just they are not worthy of being on the roster and we know why they are

TNA done with Bubba The Love Sponge?

February 15th 2010 01:35
Bubba The Love Sponge's TNA days could be done, Bubba appears to be not appearing at the Against All Odds and according to his Twitter page he has not been used the following is what he posted today 'nope I'm not on it. 3 weeks since I've done anything. I think they might be done with me. Bubba'

Bubba has a lot of heat backstage after his comments that he made about Haiti before the Genesis PPV, and was even involved in a backstage fight with Awesome Kong which saw Awesome Kong give her notice and possibly saw Alissa Flash decide to depart the company as well. The Love Sponge has had a controversial start with the company starting with an incident at the January 4th live ImPACT broadcast when fans of his radio show were turned away after security refused them entry after he gave out TNA tickets. Allegedly someone from TNA was at the Hard Rock Cafe bagging him out on stage and he appeared done that night as far as he was concerned he kept working with TNA even after he made the comment he did about Haiti which brought himself some more unwanted heat

John Morrison worked the SmackDown/ECW live event Friday Night in Ecuador, teaming with Matt Hardy in the opening match of the night. Morrison and Hardy defeated The Hart Dynasty. Morrison appeared to be fine and showed no signs of a broken ankle. It was previously reported that Morrison had broken his ankle in three places, Morrison even tweeted about the injury on his twitter page that he was going to "walk it off." this has prompted many to believe that Morrison has not indeed broken his ankle and he's working an angle which by the looks of it will see Shawn Michael or Batista enter the Elimination Chamber at the next WWE PPV.

The fact Morrison was able to work the House Show overseas does prove this to be the possible way of getting either Batista or Michaels into the chamber, it is odd for the WWE to have a wrestler appear at a House Show while working an angle even if it is in Ecuador. The door is still open for a Batista entry to the Chamber after he did get himself counted out. Batista also now looks to be the body guard of Vince, or at least once he attacked Cena/Bret Hart it appears to be the case this could mean a granted access to the Chamber by attacking someone else, possibly Kofi Kingston will be the target for this attack

The road to the end of ECW

February 14th 2010 03:05
It's finally dead, ECW will be put down for good very soon an end of an era, an era that was not really the ECW of old, but if it was booked the ECW of old way there would have been some proud workers. I was sad in a way to see ECW finally come to an end, ECW was a company I grew to love, I have seen some of the old time classic matches, feuds and the real ECW a piece of me died. ECW was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1992 by Tod Gordon, at the time ECW had its origins in 1991 under the banner Tri-State Wrestling Alliance owned by Joel Goodhart in 1992 however Joel Goodhart would tell his share in company to Tod Gordon, who renamed it Eastern Championship Wrestling as apart of the National Wrestling Alliance.

Eddie Gilbert was a lead booker of the company until September 1993 when he and Tod Gordon fell out, just after leaving WCW Paul Heyman was looking for a new challenge and was made the new head booker of ECW. ECW contrasted contemporary professional wrestling with many cartoonish gimmicks and was marketed towards children, but EXtreme Championship Wrestling was aimed at males between 18-35 and in doing this they broke a lot of taboos, the main one was the blading at the time very few wrestling companies did this, in WCW if you bladed at the time, you were fired, Dustin Rhodes can attest to this, after a match in 1995 he bladed in the King of The Road Math and was later fired

World elite, soon world released?

February 13th 2010 16:50
Another member of TNA's forgotten superstars, Homicide has been growing increasingly frustrated in TNA, there were promising sides when he turned heel and the possible feud with Jeff Hardy to begin seems to have been put on ice. TNA's management has soon forgotten about World Elite since Daivari was given his release from the company, Cody Deaner soon followed and now one must ask, where's Homicide headed? Some have said the frustrated TNA star had asked for his release last year only to be denied his release. Hernandez has now started to be pushed to the moon, Homicide was pushed as a possible future heel but then TNA just forgot.

Homicide is a talented X Division worker most have bore witness to his exceptional skills throughout the Indy scene including Ring of Honor, TNA signed him in around 2005 apart of the Latin American Xchange (LAX) and paired him with the previously released Hernandez and now Hernandez appears to be growing amongst the TNA locker room, and the talk is there are more pushes for him, but what about Homicide? Being a fan of Homicide and watching his skills in FIP, ROH, and other promotions, losing such a talent would be sad to see

Ken Anderson's departure from the WWE came as a surprise as he was said to have been released because of chronic injury that was plaguing him while he was with the WWE. Anderson would soon post a video showing that any wrist problems were completely untrue. It did seem to be a weird decision for the WWE to release Anderson, but Anderson was future linked with TNA for months and months before he headed to Australia apart of Hogan's Wrestling tour. Some would say tht Ken wasn't at his best in some of the matches he had in Australia. But that very well could have been the ring rust he was working out the Hulkamania tour was a bomb, but now that Hogan is in TNA Anderson came into the company and now some have been talking about whether or not this was going to be a mistake for Anderson.

I am expecting to see TNA use Anderson in a higher profile role within the company, since he has entered as "the chosen one" he has been saying, it would see that Ken Anderson will be made the next upper mid card type that will possibly battle Angle, and Wolfe for the chance to bring down the World Champion AJ Styles. I am keen to see how TNA are going to book the 8 Card Stud Tournament the winner of the tournament at Against All Odds is going to face AJ Styles inside a steel cage at Lockdown

The loose Cannon....Brian Kendrick?

February 10th 2010 14:05
There has been no many instances that I have ever wanted to see one wrestler copy another, past or present with a gimmick but for reasons I cannot quite explain I want to see Brian Kendrick as "The Loose Cannon" Brian Kendrick. I think that he has the charisma, and the talent to pull off a new Brian Pillman. I think that before he was released from the WWE they were building him towards being close to this, but not quite.

Now that TNA appears to have Kendrick, he's arrogant, and he appears to be a heel from the two appearances he has had with TNA, so TNA could try and push him as someone that will do whatever he wants, whenever he wants and will snap as a moments notice

I have been looking at this for the last 2-3 years about my own venture into the business I have loved since I was a kid, I used to sit there glued to the TV watching WCW on TasTV here in Tasmania before WCW Pro was on Fox Sports, and then the WWF was introduced. I would always rent the videos from the WWE and as a kid I used to pretend that I was in a match, hell I even had my own ring music, well it was Bret's but for the purpose of the story it was mine.

I played football at junior level played for the Glenorchy District Junior Football Club my last number for them was 9, I used to play for my school and I thought I had potential, but chronic knee problems after a spill pretty much ended that dream. My knee has since ruled me out of a wrestling career as well, but I never had the desire to be a wrestler, do not get me wrong, I love and respect the business, I don't think I have the strength to be able to go through the training

Farewell Tommy Dreamer

It was sad to see Tommy Dreamer depart the WWE, being the last ECW original it really made sense for ECW to finally be put to death, Dreamer was there from the beginning until ECW's untimely death. It seems appropriate now to pay tribute to the man that was the face of ECW during the last few years, a man that rose up through the ranks starting out as someone the fans hated until he won them over against The Sandman during their feud

NXT replacing ECW

February 5th 2010 16:09
WWE have announced that ECW will be no more, the show will be replaced by NXT which will be known as Next Generation, a show that will be featuring the future stars of the WWE. This will mean the established stars of the show will be moved to a new home, WWE are reportedly having a draft after Westlemania they may push the draft forward and send some of the guys to other shows, WWE will have to do something with this show to keep people interested, I fear that the show will have a very very short future. ECW has struggled in the ratings since the shows inception, and I really do not see the future stars of the WWE bringing the ratings of the show up.

You would think that with the contract coming up for renewal with the network unless the WWE can manage to pull a rabbit out of it's hat with this show I think it's done for. But I do not see why they are making a drastic move like this, change the name yes, but leave the stars there. These stars on the ECW roster are good workers, add 1 more hour to the show, start getting more writers to write more storylines and then you may see the show pick up. ECW has not been as bad as it's rating suggests, it does need more storylines, there has been a lack of them on the show

Monday Night Wars Troisième Partie

February 4th 2010 05:12
Maryse Ouellet is not the only one that can throw out a bit of French here, my French is limited, but we're entering the next installment of the Monday Night Wars, and I feel why not call it Part 3? (You see it's catchy., no? Don't worry in 2020 when WCW Part 3 comes along, it will be relevant then.)

But the point is the Monday Night Wars are back! And boy am I excited. So excited I will ignore the Maryse Ouellet comment there, and move straight into it, March 1st and TNA will be going head to head with Raw, on a regular basis, it would appear that TNA are going to work this as a life event once and awhile, and a taping every week, not that this will help TNA's cause if they are going to continue to confuse everyone in the imPACT! Zone by taping 3 shows in a night and slicing the tapings to fill out 3 weeks, out of order.. Confused? So are they, I will try and explain here, TNA has taped 3 shows in a row, but they have taped the segments for the 3 shows in different parts, and their production team magically figures out where they go to put together a show
