Wrestling Asylum - November 2007

ECW 29/11 thoughts

November 29th 2007 06:29
It was pretty much a nothing ep of ECW this week. None of the matches were that decent, and nothing memorable happened. CM Punk wasn't even on it.

The opening divas match was just horrible. It's always good to look at Kelly Kelly though! And it's good that they finally remembered to continue the storyline with Balls (after not really mentioning it at all over the past few weeks). Dunno why they keep on mentioning how Kelly and Layla are both Miz's managers when they don't even come down with him anymore.

Miz/Morrison V Jesse/Festus was alright I guess, especially towards the end, but wasn't anything we'd seen millions of times already. Festus continues to be great; the crowd are really into him.

Benjamin/Moore was basically a squash. Not a bad one though. Hopefully Burke just isn't going to continue to be Shelton's second. To be honest, I'd much rather see Elijah getting a big push than Shelton.

And the main event, again, was nothing new, just continuing the Kane/BDV feud for even longer.

IF YOU MISSED IT: You didn't miss much. No need to track down a copy of this one, it was a pretty uneventful show.

Raw November 28 thoughts...

It was a fantastic Raw this week! If you missed it, make sure you catch the replay, cause this was the best ep in quite some time.

The opening tag match between HHH/Hardy and Umaga/Snitzky was really good, made even better by the hot crowd. Although, putting HHH-Hardy against each other at the PPV did seem a bit desperate and pointless at first, after the segment later on in the show with Grisham interviewing Hardy, I must admit, I'm intrigued to see where this is going. And the match between them should be great too.

Flair's promo, like always, delivered. This is another angle that should be a lot of fun over the next few months. His match with Orton came across as very important, and was a fine match to boot. The backstage segments (Flair and Michaels talking, and the locker room clapping for Flair as he walked down to the ring) were also very well done.

Kennedy's promo on HBK was also very good. I've sorta been losing interest in Kennedy a bit lately, but that promo was definitely top-notch. The Kendrick squash was a waste of time though... I know I've said it heaps of times, but they really should've kept London and Kendrick on SD!

Santino and Jericho on the mic-- what more could you want!? The match (and Santino's beatdown of Lawler) was also decent. Still not sure about Jericho's new finisher though... wasn't that impressive. He probably should just stick with Walls Of Jericho, or maybe even bring back the BreakDown.

The Hornswoggle/Carlito bit was just stupid. They're obviously really trying to bury Carlito as much as possible before he leaves for good.

IF YOU MISSED IT: Like I said earlier, catch the replay. This was seriously one of the best Raws in a while, thanks in large part to the return of Flair! Whooooo!!

Damn, that was a fun show! Definitely the most enjoyable ep in some time.

Elijah/Yang had a fine little match to start the show. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Elijah is great!! Definitely one to look out for in the near future, as I'm sure he's gonna be big.

The Halloween backstage skit with Nunzio was hilarious, I thought. I wish they'd use Nunzio more-- even if it's just in comedy skits like on this ep-- cause he's really entertaining. And the match with Dreamer was also fun. I wonder if that was intended to completely bury Heyman or if it was just a rib on him.

Miz/Morrison was disappointingly short, and with Miz losing clean, I guess this marks the end of his foray into the main-event scene which is a shame, as I reckon he's great. At least his feud with Balls can properly continue now.

And finally, I know most people are gonna hate on it, but the Monster Mash Battle Royal was a lot of fun. Sure, it was a 'spectacle' match with obviously no great mat wrestling or anything like that, but I enjoyed it for what it was. Very surprised to see Henry victorious though-- I was expecting Kane or Daddy V to win.

IF YOU MISSED IT: Catch the replay if you're home. It was an entertaining show from top-to-bottom. Nothing spectacular, but a very fun Halloween edition.
